Rosalie Bay Resort nestles at the foothills of Morne Trois Pitons on the lush island of Dominica, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, between the Rosalie River and the black sands of the Atlantic. Built on the dream of its owners Bev and Oscar, Rosalie Bay Resort finally opened its doors to guests in January 2011 following nine years of construction making it the first eco-boutique and wellness resort on the island. The resort has been included by National Geographic in its list of 'Unique Lodges of the World'.
Rosalie Bay Resort was named ‘Dominica’s Leading Hotel’ at the 2017 World Travel Awards.
Just 45 minutes from the capital city of Roseau, Rosalie Bay Resort is set in 22 verdant acres with 9 cottages dotted around. These house 28 spacious guest rooms and suites; each designed to offer guests tranquility and a private verandah. Each room is elegant with modern touches yet remains true to its environmental roots – for example, the air conditioning being supplied with power from the resort’s solar panels and wind turbine.
Wellness is an important part of a stay at Rosalie Bay Resort, with a spa offering a range of treatments and complimentary yoga classes available three mornings per week. Excellent cuisine is created using fresh ingredients, many of which are grown in the resort's organic gardens - Zamaan Restaurant serves a range of mouthwatering Dominican dishes such as pan-sauteed catch of the day with caramelised onions, grilled fresh lobster tail and local curried goat. Guests can choose to dine inside or al fresco on the covered terrace, while a is also bar open for drinks and snacks beside the saltwater, onyx-lined swimming pool.
Rosalie Bay Resort set up the first sea turtle protection project on Dominica, with three species of endangered sea turtles nesting on the black sand beach between March and October. It is not possible to swim from the beach as the sea of the Atlantic Coast is rough, but there is a constant breeze that tempers the heat.
The concierge at Rosalie Bay Resort is happy to put together an itinerary for guests to make the most of their stay on the ‘Nature Island’ including bird watching, a hike to the world’s second largest boiling lake, jeep Safari, market day trip, a scuba diving experience with sperm whales and ... all in addition to guidance on the hikes and trails that criss-cross the island! They will also advise guests of the level of challenge for each route.
Rosalie Bay Resort is a major source of employment for the local village and the furniture throughout the resort has been hand carved by talented artisans on the island. Continuing to put the environment first, you’ll find LED lights, chairs made from recycled materials, sustainably produced cotton towels and UV filtered natural spring water.
